Bombones was born in Seville, (Spain), in early 2000s, where due to the love of the music that characterize both Juano and Goyo (working in a record store), they decided to join with Francis and Eduardo "Pollito" (former bass player) to play unusual power-pop covers, like Matthew Sweet, Velvet Crush or Redd Kross.
In the manga, he can play acoustic guitar, and is a fan of singer Matthew Sweet, possibly due to his quirky upbringing (in the original Japanese, it’s The Carpenters).
Reviewing the album, Allmusic said "Throughout Platonica, the Pasties demonstrate that they have good guitar pop instincts", identifying Matthew Sweet and Elvis Costello as influences.
