The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Association faction, led by Hebe de Bonafini, takes a more political approach.

Azucena Villaflor (7 April 1924, Avellaneda –- 10 December 1977) was an Argentine social activist, and one of the founders of the human rights association called Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, which looked for desaparecidos (victims of forced disappearance during Argentina's Dirty War).
He has been accused in particular of having ordered the murders of the French nuns Léonie Duquet and Alice Domon, and of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Azucena Villaflor, Esther Ballestrino and María Ponce, as well as of the death of the Swedish-Argentine teenager Dagmar Hagelin.
It was followed by Madres: The Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, a 1986 co-production with the Argentine director Susana Blaustein Muñoz which documented the actions of Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, a group of Argentine women who gather weekly at the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires to remember their children that were murdered or "disappeared" by the military regime.
She directed four films since she started her career in 1980, and produced one of them, the documentary Las Madres de Plaza de Mayo (1985, with co-director Lourdes Portillo), about the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo who looked for their disappeared children during the Dirty War.
This was shortly after Astiz had led a police action at the Holy Cross Church in Buenos Aires against the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, where he had arranged the arrest of Azucena Villaflor and two other of the 13 founders of the group, together with a total of ten associates.
