With a focus on cultural diversity and service, Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc. can be considered a "non-traditional" Greek organization and does not meet membership status requirements for many of the other national Greek umbrella organizations (e.g. National Panhellenic Conference, National Pan-Hellenic Council, National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, National APIA Panhellenic Association), nor does it meet these requirements at the local/campus level.
Additionally, since many Greek letter organizations, such as those governed by the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), prohibit their pledges (also known as “interests” or “new members”) from revealing their association with their organization until they have been initiated, it becomes increasingly difficult for institutions to reach out to members in anti-hazing efforts.
Furthermore, students can be initiated into honor societies, such as Phi Delta Kappa and Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, as well as National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho.
