Horní Paseky is first mentioned in 1291, as a property of the Neuberg.
2005, on the recommendation of his friend Count Stephan von Neipperg (Château Canon-la-Gaffelière and La Mondotte), Denz bought the Château Faugères estate, six kilometers east of Saint Emilion.
This allowed Neipperg to threaten the main Neapolitan force under Joachim Murat engaged at the Battle of Tolentino.
With the result of the battle still undecided, Murat received word Neipperg had defeated Carascosa at the Battle of Scapezzano and was approaching.
Count William Albert of Neipperg was born at Parma, Duchy of Parma, son of Adam Albert, Count of Neipperg (1775–1829), by his second wife, Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria (1791–1847), (daughter of Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor and Princess Maria Teresa of Naples and Sicily).
