Central is an interchange between the Yellow and Green lines, and is the last stop prior to crossing the River Tyne towards Gateshead.
Scott later began winning building contracts in the North East and was the main contractor behind several landmark buildings within Newcastle, including the Tyne Theatre, Byker Bridge and added the portico to Newcastle railway station in 1863.

The long distance regional services connecting Sunderland, Newcastle, Scarborough and Hull with Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool were operated under the TransPennine Express banner, the rest as Arriva Trains Northern.
Until 1 July 2013 it was also responsible for the administration, operation of passenger services under the CityRail and CountryLink brands as well as maintaining the rail network bounded by Newcastle, Bowenfels, Macarthur and Bomaderry.
