In 2000, he joined the McLaren Group as Managing Director, becoming Deputy Chairman in 2005.In 2007, he left McLaren and took a career break to complete a Graduate Diploma in the History Art at the Courtauld Institute.

He graduated with a law degree from St John's College, Oxford, in 1978 and worked as an international lawyer with Baker & McKenzie from 1979 to 2000.
