The studio was originally opened in 1971 as Quadrafonic Sound Studio by session musicians David Briggs and Norbert Putnam.
Over his past few album releases, Donovan had hired a succession of popular record producers in hopes of chart success: Mickie Most for Cosmic Wheels, Andrew Loog Oldham for Essence to Essence and Norbert Putnam for 7-Tease.

Miller has worked in the studio with Michael Wagener, Norbert Putnam, Gary Pihl of the band Boston and has worked on the live sound crew with The Steve Morse Band, Velvet Revolver, Alice in Chains and Sparta.
Although the addition of the production talents of Daniel Moore (songwriter for B. W. Stevenson and Three Dog Night) and Norbert Putnam (who had worked with Jimmy Buffett), as well as musicians like Victor Feldman (from Steely Dan fame) and Larrie Londin (who later worked with Journey) provided a smooth fusion style to the music, members of the band felt the tradition of the music was severely altered.
