The making of Bald on the Inside was very much a solo affair with Tim taking on the writing, playing, recording and producing of the entire album at Acer Studios, his self built recording facility in much the same way as Mike Oldfield's – Tubular Bells and Jean Michel Jarre's - Oxygène.
Jean Michel Jarre plays a Liberation on his recent DVD release of Oxygene Live In Your Living Room, and it also appears in the bonus section with Jarre describing the instruments.
The album's cover art is notable in that it contains images by French artist Michel Granger who was also responsible for the iconic sleeve of Jean Michel Jarre's album Oxygène.
The motif of the track Oxygène IV is a variation on a phrase from Popcorn by Gershon Kingsley, which Jarre himself had previously covered under the pseudonyms of The Popcorn Orchestra and Jamie Jefferson.
•
His inspiration for Oxygène came from a painting by the artist Michel Granger that was given to him by his future wife Charlotte Rampling.

Jean Michel Jarre – ARP 2600, EMS Synthi AKS, EMS VCS3, RMI Harmonic Synthesizer, Farfisa Professional Organ, Eminent 310U, Mellotron and the Rhythmin' Computer (later revealed to be a Korg Minipops-7 rhythm machine)
Oxygene 7–13, an album by Jean Michel Jarre, released in 1997
The Orb's single "Toxygene" was originally intended for release as a remix for the single release of "Oxygène 8", but was rejected by Jarre for being too distant from the original.
•
A number of remixes of Oxygène 7–13 tracks have been made, including those comprising most of the album Snake in the Eagle's Shadow
As well as original music by Chou Fu-liang, the film also features Jean Michel Jarre's "Oxygène (Part 2)" and Space's "Magic Fly".
