David Henry Lewis

Lewis was rescued by personnel from the Antarctic research outpost Palmer Station, who subsequently repaired the Ice Bird while Lewis spent the Antarctic winter in Australia.

Eichorst Island

Eichorst Island was named by the United States Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Marvin H. (Ike) Eichorst of Glenview, Illinois, licensed operator of amateur radio station W9RUK who handled radio traffic between points in the United States and Palmer Station during the period 1964-1972.

Inan Peak

It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1994 named after Umran Inan of Stanford University, who has conducted critical research since 1980 in the upper atmosphere of Antarctica at Siple Station and Palmer Station, and is internationally recognized as a leader in the study of upper atmospheric phenomena.

RV Polar Duke

The "Duke" transported supplies and personnel between Palmer Station, Antarctica and the port of Punta Arenas, Chile, on the Strait of Magellan, for 13 years, providing seagoing and shore-based research support in waters and islands in the Drake Passage and around the Antarctic Peninsula.

Spain Peak

It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 2005 after Rae Spain, who from 1979 to 2004 completed 22 field season deployments in various positions held for U.S. Antarctic Project support contractors at the McMurdo, Siple, Palmer, and South Pole Stations, and at remote field camp stations.
