The larger wood, which is at the north of the site, is called Wentworth Hall Wood, and has a canopy mainly of pedunculate oak and ash.
The tree canopy is dominated by Pedunculate Oak and Ash some of which are estimated to be 200 years old.
The hybrid oak Quercus × warei (Quercus robur f. fastigiata × Quercus bicolor), commonly known as the 'Long Oak', was named for him.
The collection of specimen trees and shrubs include towering American White and English Oaks, lindens, tulip trees, bald cypress, and Chinese Golden Larch, as well as different species and cultivars of azaleas, lilacs, viburnums, hollies, weeping cherries and rhododendrons.
Rare tree species occurring include the large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos) and varieties of whitebeam, as well as pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) and wych elm (Ulmus glabra).
