Silver went on to direct three more feature films, Permanent Record (1988), with Keanu Reeves, Vital Signs (1990) and He Said, She Said (1991), with Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth Perkins.
2005 saw the release of two collections of past work—a CD called Permanent Record: The Very Best of Violent Femmes on Slash/Rhino and a DVD, Permanent Record – Live & Otherwise from Rhino, which showcases a concert performance from 1991, along with many of the group's videos.
Sacco's lasting influence was in requesting playwright Carlo Goldoni to lay a dramatic structure to his improvised routines, with the resulting plays Truffaldino's 32 Mishaps (1738-40), Truffaldino's Son Lost and Found (1746), and the masterpiece A Servant of Two Masters (1745-53) being the best permanent record of what was an impromptu and momentary art form.
