Clitopilus byssisedoides was found growing on decayed wood in pot with Phalaenopsis (Orchidaceae) in a tropical hothouse in the Jena Botanical Garden.
The orchids are of the Phalaenopsis x intermedia variety, also known as the Star of Leyte, which was originally found in Southern Leyte.The orchid variety is the provincial flower of the province.
Today the gardens claim to contain more than 2,000 plant varieties, with approximately 225 types of flowering plants, including 100 species of fruit trees; and over 2,300 orchids, said to be one of the world's largest collections of Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis, Epiphytes, Oncidium, and Cattleya orchids.
The conservatory’s collection includes representatives of the largest genera – Bulbophyllum, Epidendrum, and Dendrobium – as well as commonly cultivated genera such as Cattleya and Phalaenopsis.
