The species was originally found in Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, Loei Province, and has later been confirmed in the neighboring Phu Kradueng National Park as well.
Kradum Ngoen (Eriocaulon henryanum Ruhle) and lady’s slipper orchids (Paphiopedilum sukhakulii Schoser & Senghas) comprise the undergrowth of the hill evergreen forest.
