Bill Torrey

Bill Torrey began his hockey career in the AHL in the mid-1960s, with the Pittsburgh Hornets, but his talent soon landed him a job as Vice-President of the Oakland Seals, a recently created expansion team in the NHL.

Danny Lewicki

Lewicki spent the next three seasons mainly with the Leafs' Pittsburgh Hornets.

Glen Brydson

Brydon's last two professional seasons were spent with the American Hockey League's Springfield Indians and the Pittsburgh Hornets.

Ian Cushenan

He played for the following Minor League teams during his career: St. Catharines Teepees, Cleveland Barons, Quebec Aces, Springfield Indians, Pittsburgh Hornets and Buffalo Bisons.

John Sherf

He was a member of the Detroit Red Wings for his entire career but was often assigned to the top Red Wings farm team, the Pittsburgh Hornets.

He played with the American Hockey League's Pittsburgh Hornets, after the Detroit Olympics were moved to Pittsburgh and renamed.

Max Kaminsky

Following his retirement he was the longtime coach for the Pittsburgh Hornets until the team disbanded from 1957-1961 at which point he moved on to lead the St. Catharines Teepees to the Memorial Cup in 1960 before dying of cancer later that year.


Frank Mathers

Frank Sydney Mathers (born March 29, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba – d. February 9, 2005 in Hershey, Pennsylvania) was a professional ice hockey player during the 1940s and 1950s with the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs, and the AHL Pittsburgh Hornets and Hershey Bears, and is best known for his 35-year association with the Bears.
