They used such new materials to great advantage in their structures, many of which survive to this day, like their masonry aqueducts such as the Pont du Gard and buildings such as the Pantheon and Baths of Diocletian in Rome.

The Pont de Bornègre (or Pont de Bordnègre) is an ancient bridge of the Roman aqueduct to Nîmes, which also includes the famous Pont du Gard, between the communes of Saint-Maximin, and Argilliers.
The 15th-century rebuilding of aqueduct at Segovia in Spain shows advances on the Pont du Gard by using fewer arches of greater height, and so greater economy in its use of the raw materials.
