Blackboard Inc.

Founded by Michael Chasen and Matthew Pittinsky in 1997, Blackboard became a public company in 2004 and continued operating publicly until Providence Equity Partners purchased the company in 2011.

Though previously a public company, following its 2011 buyout by Providence Equity Partners Blackboard now operates as a private company.

CDW

On Friday, October 12, 2007, CDW's acquisition by Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners and Providence Equity Partners was officially completed at a value of over 7 billion dollars.

Univision Communications

In 2003, News Corporation purchased Hughes Electronic's PanAmSat division and on April 24, 2004 sold PanAmSat to a consortium of private equity firms in a leveraged buyout including Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners for $4.3 billion.
