Calendula maritima, the Sea Marigold, occurs only on the Sicilian coast: on the island mainland between Marsala and the Monte Cofano; and on the two nearby islets Isola Grande dello Stagnone and Isola La Formica, in the Province of Trapani.

Riserva naturale integrale Saline di Trapani e Paceco is a nature reserve in the Province of Trapani between the municipalities Marsala, Trapani, and Paceco at the west coast of Sicily.
It originates from both the Province of Cosenza in the southern Italian region of Calabria and the western part of Sicily (Province of Trapani), where records exist dating back to 1612 in Salaparuta.
