Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) was launched in 2004 as collaborative institute involving the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University.

RENCI comprises a virtual organization that includes the three Triangle area campuses and East Carolina University, UNC Asheville, UNC Charlotte, and UNC’s Coastal Studies Institute.
