Declaration of Lex Talionis

Major-General Rowland Laugharne, and colonels John Poyer and Rice Powell all of whom had commanded Royalist forces in Wales, were sentenced to death, but Poyer alone was executed on 25 April 1649, being the victim selected by lot.

Rowland Laugharne

His nephew Captain John Langhorne (1640–1687) the founder of one of Virginia's best-known families went to Warwick County in Virginia and had a number of influential descendants, including Lady Astor.


Second English Civil War

Disbanded soldiers continued to join him in April, all South Wales revolted, and eventually he was joined by Major-General Rowland Laugharne, his district commander, and Colonel Rice Powell
