Charles Edward Pogue is a film and television writer who has worked in the sci-fi/fantasy, horror, and thriller genres, and he has also scripted several Sherlock Holmes adaptations (The Sign of Four, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Hands of a Murderer).

Château d'Arc-en-Barrois

The Arc-en-Barrois area belonged in 1622 to Nicolas de L'Hospital, Duke of Vitry; it was bought in 1679 from his son by Count Morstein who ceded it in 1693 to Louis Alexandre, Count of Toulouse, whose son Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre, inherited the estate.

Cruise of the Gods

Written by Tim Firth, with additional material by Michael Marshall Smith and Peter Baynham, it told the story of a fan cruise held in honour of The Children of Castor, a fictitious 1980s post-apocalyptic sci-fi TV series, starring Andy Van Allen (Brydon) and Nick Lee (Coogan).

Donnelly Rhodes

Ferranti Computer Systems

It owes its name to its original founder Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti, an electrical engineer, born in Liverpool in 1864, who, at the age of 13, invented the arc light for street lighting and, when 16, built and patented an electrical generator (the Ferranti dynamo).

Giannetto De Rossi

De Rossi was next called by Dino De Laurentiis to work with Carlo Rambaldi to create the on-set practical effects for two films in Mexico including the sci fi blockbuster Dune, for which he worked wonders, creating the fetus-shaped Spice Guild Navigator seen floating in a tank.

Henri Chapu

At least four full-scale reproductions of Jeanne d'Arc are on permanent display at American universities in Virginia: in McConnell Library at Radford University in Radford, Virginia, beneath the rotunda in Ruffner Hall at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, at James Madison University, and at the University of Mary Washington.

Hermocrates

Mohammed Alim Khan

After four days of fighting, the emir’s citadel (Arc) was destroyed, the red flag was raised from the top of Kalyan Minaret, and the Emir Alim Khan was forced to flee to his base at Dushanbe (in present-day Tajikistan), and finally to Kabul, Afghanistan, where he died in 1944.
