1991 DFB-Supercup

Uniquely, because Germany had just been reunified, the competition featured four teams instead of the usual two: The previous season's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal winners, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and SV Werder Bremen, respectively, were joined by their counterparts from the East.

In 1995–96 they reached the first round proper of the UEFA Cup (the last Irish League club to do so), and were beaten by Werder Bremen.

Ivan Bebek

Bebek is considered the best Croatian referee and is the only Croatian referee who supervised two UEFA Champions League group stage matches (Lazio v. Werder Bremen during the 2007–08 season and Bordeaux v. CFR Cluj in the 2008–09 season).
