Nothing was accomplished and grant was later taken over by Samuel Waldo, a Boston merchant.
The first Maine paper mill was built on the river at Falmouth in 1731 by General Samuel Waldo.
Waldo died of apoplexy near present-day Bangor, Maine in 1759 while participating in a military expedition with Governor Thomas Pownall.
He worked as an agent for Samuel Waldo, who speculated in land, in South Carolina and Massachusetts (including what is now the state of Maine) during the 1730s.
