Ayston

The house was built in 1807 by H.D. Legg for George Fludyer, MP and High Sheriff of Rutland for 1814, who had inherited the land from his widowed mother, the wife of Sir Samuel Fludyer, 1st Baronet.


Bridgeman baronets

The Bridgeman Baronetcy, of Ridley in the County of Chester, was created on 12 November 1773 for Orlando Bridgeman, Member of Parliament for Horsham and younger son of the 1st Baronet, of the Great Lever creation.

John Copley

For over 50 years Copley has been the partner of John Hugh Chadwyck-Healey (born 1922), grandson of Charles Chadwyck-Healey, 1st Baronet.

Sir Samuel Fludyer, 1st Baronet

Fludyer died in 1768 and was buried in the churchyard of St Margaret's, Lee.

The elaborate wig that he wore on becoming Lord Mayor in 1761 was depicted in William Hogarth's 1761 engraving Five Orders of Periwigs.

He married twice: to Jane Clerke (d. 1757), by whom he had one daughter; and to Caroline Brudenell (d. 1803), niece of the 3rd Earl of Cardigan, whom he married on 2 September 1758.

Viscount Hanworth

Pollock was the fifth son of Mr George Pollock, fourth son of Sir Frederick Pollock (1st Baronet, of Hatton) (elder brother of Field Marshal Sir George Pollock, 1st Baronet, of The Khyber Pass).
