Rainer Schulin (* July 22, 1952) is a German zoologist, forest scientist and professor of soil protection at the ETH Zurich.

Colless won a cadetship with the Soil Conservation Service of the New South Wales, that led to studies at Hawkesbury Agricultural College.
From the 1950s, the New South Wales Soil Conservation Service undertook an extensive rehabilitation program for the vegetation of the Carruthers Peak–Mount Twynam area, which was in dire need of growth after a century of grazing.
