He began working with the founding members of Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ: SNIC) in 1992, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer.
While at Zone Ventures, he helped lead an investment in DivX, a video compression technology and distribution company, which completed a successful IPO (Nasdaq:DIVX, subsequently purchased by Sonic Solutions Nasdaq: SNIC, which was purchased by Rovi Nasdaq: ROVI).
Version 3.0, although still a free download from Microsoft, removed direct Video CD burning, but supported a paid-for add-on from Sonic Solutions for exporting and burning the photo story to DVD.

In 1996, he won an Emmy Award for Technical Achievement with his partners, Robert J. Doris and Mary C. Sauer for Sonic Solutions "NoNOISE" for Noise Reduction on Television Broadcast Sound Tracks.
