1989 NCAA Division I-A football season

The number of schools increased by 2 to 106 with the addition of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs as an independent, and the SMU Mustangs of the Southwest Conference resuming play in the wake of the so-called "death penalty".

1998 NCAA Division I-A football season

The agreement existed between the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, and Orange Bowls, the Cotton Bowl Classic diminishing in status since the breakup of the Southwest Conference.

2006 Mountain West Conference football season

It was the first meeting of these long-time Southwest Conference rivals, and was the Frogs' third consecutive victory over Big 12 teams.

2007 Mountain West Conference football season

In a rematch of former Southwest Conference rivals, TCU overcame a 10-7 halftime lead and then held back a last-minute rally by the Cougars to win their third consecutive bowl game, 20-13.


1960 Bluebonnet Bowl
