The package was initially developed by the Spatial Analysis Laboratory of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the direction of Luc Anselin.
In spatial analysis the topological spatial relations are derived from the DE-9IM model, as spatial predicates about relations between points, lines, and/or areas: Equals, Contains, Covers, CoveredBy, Crosses, Disjoint, Intersects, Overlaps, Touches and Within.
2007 : SeisQuaRe Pau is opened in order to focus on the SeisQuaRe spatial analysis capabilities for dense velocities and amplitude cubes.
Notable academics include Dr Hannah Fry from the UCL Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis who teaches Quantitative Methods and Professor Mark Miodownik a UCL materials scientist and broadcaster who runs the second year engineering module.
