Simultaneously he continued his aviation career, as a test pilot, participating in the development of Sud Aviation’s Caravelle.
In 1972 an Iberia Caravelle airliner crashed against Sa Talaiassa killing all 104 people on board.

The 1986 Aerovías Guatemala air crash occurred on 18 January 1986 and involved a Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle III that crashed into a hill on approach to Santa Elena Airport, Flores, Guatemala after a short flight from Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport.
Air France Flight 1611 was a Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle III en route from the island of Corsica to Nice, France on 11 September 1968 when it crashed into the Mediterranean Sea off Nice, killing all 95 on board.
The engine, as redesigned, went on to power landmark aircraft such as the English Electric Canberra bomber, and the de Havilland Comet and Sud Aviation Caravelle airliners.
The aircraft factory was rebuilt, and has since built sections of the Vautour fighter and the Caravelle airliner, before becoming part of Airbus.
