The Nosce surname can be traced back to the late 19th century in the unpretentious municipalities of Lucena and Tayabas, province of Tayabas, known today as the Quezon Province located in the central part of the island of Luzon, Republic of the Philippines.

Battle of Tayabas

Although Malvar's main army was armed with Mausers and other modern weaponry, numerous TayabeƱo katipuneros who joined the fighting were armed with simple Knives and spears; however, the advantage of the Spaniards in terms of weaponry was relatively neutralized due to the close up fighting in the jungles and foothills of Mt. Banahaw in Tayabas.
