2 unusual facts about The Gun Club

The Gun Club

Without a guitarist or a drummer, Pierce had the supporting act's drummer (Billy Pommer Jr) and guitarist (Spencer P. Jones) fill in for the remainder of the tour, while Kid Congo Powers also returned on guitar.

The band was originally a rockabilly band called The Cyclones led by Pleasant Gehman on lead vocals, but Gehman departed after only one show which was at Gazzarri's, a club on the Sunset Strip and their opening act was The GoGos.

Charlie Feathers

These later albums of original songs penned by Feathers were released on the French label New Rose Records, whose other 1980s releases included albums by cult music heroes like Johnny Thunders, Alex Chilton, Roky Erickson, The Cramps, The Gun Club, and others.

Death of Samantha

The band performed with contemporaries such as Sonic Youth, along with Nirvana, Jesus and Mary Chain, the Replacements, Smashing Pumpkins, the Gun Club, Leaving Trains and Redd Kross.

Ruby Records

Chris D. also produced The Dream Syndicate's The Days of Wine and Roses and some tracks on The Gun Club's Fire of Love, as well as the two Flesh Eaters albums released by Ruby.

When Warner Bros. Records bought Slash, they took over distribution of Ruby's three most popular albums (The Gun Club's Fire of Love, The Misfits' Walk Among Us, The Dream Syndicate's The Days of Wine and Roses) and deleted the others (which included releases by The Flesh Eaters, Blurt and Lydia Lunch).

The Gizmos

Coffee sang and played in Thee Fourgiven and the Tommyknockers, influenced by late 1960s pre-punk hard-rock bands like the MC5 and The Doors as well as more recent acts like The Cramps, The Gun Club, and Billy Childish.
