In 2006, Lubbock-based alternative country band Thrift Store Cowboys wrote and recorded a song entitled "Lubbock Lights" on their third album, Lay Low While Crawling or Creeping.
Festivities began with a parade and were followed by The All-School Reunion Dance, which featured the band Thrift Store Cowboys from Post, Texas.
The band has toured a significant portion of the southeastern and western U.S., touring with acts such as DeVotchKa, Cory Branan, and Sleepy Horses.
