unusual facts about U.S. Route 20


Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh Railroad

A few small portions of the line still exist, including a short spur off the Dunkirk mainline of the former Michican & Lake Shore / NYC (Penn Central/Conrail, now Norfolk Southern) to Fredonia to serve the Carriage House Foods manufacturing plant just north of U.S. Route 20 in Fredonia, as well as a small spur less than a mile long to serve a plastics company in Warren, Pennsylvania.


Fairfield, Idaho

Fairfield's main street is Soldier Road but is accessed by U.S. Route 20, a two-lane undivided highway connecting it to the west with Interstate 84 near Mountain Home, and to the east with State Highway 75 at Timmerman Junction in Blaine County.

Indiana State Road 49

Then SR 49 leaves Valparaiso heading north toward Chesterton having an interchange with U.S. Route 6, Interstate 80/Interstate 90/Indiana Toll Road, Interstate 94, U.S. Route 20, and U.S. Route 12.

Lake–Peterson House

The Lake-Peterson House was built in 1873, most likely by its first owner, John Lake and stands in front of the main complex for Rockford's Swedish American Hospital along Business U.S. Route 20.

The Lake-Peterson House is owned and maintained by Swedish American Hospital in Rockford and stands adjacent to the main hospital complex along Business US 20 (East State Street).

Massachusetts Route 41

Route 41 ends just north of the Richmond-Pittsfield line at U.S. Route 20, just east of the Hancock Shaker Village in Hancock and southwest of Pittsfield's airport and city center.
