The popularity of A3 series in Europe led Van Hool and ABC to partner with AC Transit (Alameda and Contra Costa counties, California) to demo the A3 series as a future transit alternative in 2002.

Some routes were operated by a fleet of 70 Dodge minibuses, whilst others used double deck buses, notably 25 secondhand ex-South Yorkshire Transport Volvo Ailsa B55 with Irish-built Van Hool-McArdle bodywork.
The fleet also consists of Van Hool coaches and some RTS buses which came along with their takeover of Coach USA's Northeastern division companies, namely Arrow Line, Mini Coach of Boston, Maine Line, Pawtuxet Valley, and the Providence-based Bonanza in 2003.
The N112 was also built as an airport shuttle bus with Van Hool Alizee coach body and DAF Variomatic transmission, and in this form Capital Coaches of West Drayton ordered 23 on behalf of the British Airports Authority (BAA) at Heathrow in 1987, while Terminus Securities Ltd took one in 1988 for work at Gatwick.
Like its parent company, Vermont Transit Lines operated similar equipment with most buses in its fleet supplied by Motor Coach Industries, and some by the Belgian coach builder Van Hool.
