Victoria Cross recipient Victor Buller Turner lived at Ditchingham from after the Second World War until his death in 1972, and his ashes are buried in St Mary's churchyard.
Lieutenant-Colonel Victor Buller Turner VC CVO (17 January 1900 – 7 August 1972) was an English recipient during the Second World War of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

He was educated at Wellington College and the Royal Military College Sandhurst before commissioning as Second Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade in 1918.
