In 1969 Victor Scheinman at Stanford University invented the Stanford arm, an all-electric, 6-axis articulated robot designed to permit an arm solution.
She is the niece of robotics pioneer Victor Scheinman, and the granddaughter of Telford Taylor, Chief Prosecutor at the United States war crimes trials at Nuremberg.
On June 22, 2006 broadcast of the American game-show Jeopardy!, Scheinman was the subject of the $1600 "answer" for the category "Robotics": "In the 1970s Victor Scheinman developed the PUMA, or programmable universal manipulation THIS" (question: "what is THIS?" - answer: "arm".).
