Elza has had additional ballet training from the Paris Conservatoire (1999), Anaheim Ballet summer courses, USA (1999), International Batrolin Ballet seminar (2002 and 2003), Vienna Conservatory summer courses (2000), the St Petersburg Ballet Company, Maryinsky Theatre and Hamburg Ballet.
At the Vienna Conservatory he was the youngest student admitted, under special waiver of age requirement, into the conservatory division, all his classmates being twenty-something competition winners.

Born in Modletín (then a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), he left for Vienna at the age of 15 to study with Franz Simandl at the Vienna Conservatory.
He was supposed to enter the engineering profession, but his acquaintance with Leo Fall led him to study music at the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied composition under Robert Fuchs, and became educated as a piano teacher and Kapellmeister.
He then studied composition at the Vienna Conservatory (of the Society for the Friends of Music) with Robert Fuchs, and also studied with Josef Wöss and Eusebius Mandyczewski.
From 1862 to 1865 he taught singing and music theory at the Vienna Conservatory and then at the Hamburg Conservatory until his death.
