Industrieviertel

Geographically, the Industieviertel is characterized by the level of the stone field, with its brown earth soils on tertiary molasse, just as the Vienna Basin rests on Tschernosem soils.

Nanocetorhinus

Nanocetorhinus was described by Underwood and Schlogl in 2011, from 28 partial and complete fossil teeth (holotype: Z 27485) discovered at Cerová-Lieskové, Vienna Basin, in Slovakia.


Central Eastern Alps

The Central and Northern Alps are separated by the Northern Longitudinal Trough (nördliche Längstalfurche), the line Klostertal - Arlberg - Inn Valley - Salzach Valley as far as Lake Zell - Wagrain Heights - Upper Enns Valley - Schober Pass - Mürz Valley Alps - Semmering - southern Vienna Basin.

Western Carpathians

The boundary between the Western Carpathians and the Eastern Alps is formed by the Vienna Basin, the Hainburg Hills of the Little Carpathians at Devín Gate, and a gap carved by the Danube.
