His eldest son Walter was created Viscount Chetwynd, a title to which his other two sons succeeded.
His great-great-grandson, the eighth Viscount, served as managing director of the National Shell Filling Factory at Chilwell in Nottinghamshire during the First World War.

Walter Chetwynd, 1st Viscount Chetwynd (3 June 1678 – 21 February 1736), of Rudge and Ingestre, Staffordshire, succeeded in 1693 to the Ingestre estates on the death of his cousin Walter Chetwynd (1633–1693).
