Algernon Skeffington, 12th Viscount Massereene

Skeffington was the eldest son of Clotworthy John Skeffington, 11th Viscount Massereene by Florence Whyte-Melville, only daughter of Major George Whyte-Melville.

They had one son, John Whyte-Melville-Skeffington, who succeeded as 13th Viscount.

From 1665 to 1816 the Skeffington Baronetcy of Fisherwick was attached to the viscountcy and from 1756 to 1816 the Viscounts also held the title of Earl of Massereene.

John Clotworthy was a prominent Anglo-Irish politician during the Civil War.

John Foster served as Chancellor of the Irish Exchequer and as Speaker of the Irish House of Commons and also represented County Louth in the British House of Commons.
