Wendy Waldman released a solo album and formed The Refugees with Cindy Bullens and Deborah Holland.
Founded in 2004 by Edward W. Scott, Adam Waldman and Jack Valenti, Friends of the Global Fight works to educate and mobilize U.S. decision makers to support the Global Fund and the fight to end the worldwide burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
This was called, simply, California Hard-edge painting. Included in this show were Florence Arnold, John Barbour, Larry Bell, Karl Benjamin, John Coplans, Lorser Feitelson, Frederick Hammersley, June Harwood, Helen Lundeberg, John McLaughlin, and Dorothy Waldman.
Waldman was best known for his studio work and performances with singer Robert Palmer, and also worked with artists such as Billy Idol, Madonna, Rob Hegel, Joe Jackson, Foreigner and Whitney Houston.
Waldman was born in Washington, D.C. and attended the University of Connecticut for a few years before moving to Florida in 1977 transferring to the University of Florida in 1978, where he graduated with a degree in finance in 1980.
In the spring of 2008 Waldman was among of a number of scholars who independently identified a painting of the Annunciation in a provincial museum of Hungary, the Móra Ferenc Múzeum in Szeged, as the work of Giorgio Vasari.
Poets reading at spaces provided by this collective included Anne Waldman; Michael McClure; Gregory Corso; Robert Creeley; Gary Snyder; Diane Wakoski; Robert Bly; and occasionally fiction writers would appear as well, such as award winning mystery writer Edward D. Hoch; as well as regionally known writers from the western N.Y. area, such as Buffalo playwright Emanuel Fried.
Waldman played piano (and occasionally trumpet) on a wide variety of recordings by high-profile artists such as Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Olivia Newton-John, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, Michael Bublé, Quincy Jones, Johnny Mathis, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli and countless others.
Previously, Waldman was the Editor-in-Chief, President, and co-founder of Beliefnet, a multi-faith spirituality website.
