It was his first album since 1984's I Can Dream About You (discounting the unreleased 1986 album White Boy), and was his final album of all new material.
But life seems to have other ideas for Emily, who dreams of becoming a world-famous director and falls in love with a white boy from university, James Harrison (Matt Whelan).
The video was directed by Erik White and features violinist Miri Ben-Ari (who played the strings in the record), model Miya Granatelli, Bishop Don "Magic" Juan and Chicago rappers Do or Die, Da Brat, Rip, White Boy, Crucial Conflict, and Bump J.
He continued, “You’d have 50 musicians up at a jazz concert, Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young, they all showed up. And I was like 15 years old. My mother would drive me and sit outside while I was in there …a little white boy with all these black people. And the black guys… they’d be passing quarts of vodka around.”
Leslie Mah has appeared in various films including The Yo-Yo Gang by G. B. Jones; Shut Up White Boy, co-directed by Vu T. and Thu Ha; and produced her own film, Estrofemme, in 1998.
