During spring of 2009, Dixon received the Wilma Rudolph Student Athlete Achievement Award along with five other college athletes.
Coach Temple has led the team to 34 national titles, and eight Tigerbelles have been inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame, including Wilma Rudolph Edith McGuire Wyomia Tyus and Chandra Cheeseborough, the current Women's Coach at TSU.
The projects included “Walking for Wellness that featured…Wilma Rudolph, to encourage African American women to improve their health through exercise” (Silliman et al., 77).
It is home to most of Clarksville's restaurants, retail businesses, and industries, with U.S. Highway 79 (named "Wilma Rudolph Boulevard" in this area for the Olympic sprinter), running directly through the center.
Construction is complete along the 101st Parkway segment of SR 374, which widened that part of the highway to four lanes and created an overpass with exits that allow traffic to freely flow over Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
