Yang Tinghe

After Zhu Houcong was brought to Beijing from his parents' estate in the Hubei countryside and enthroned as the Jiajing Emperor, Yang Tinghe tried to continue his influence in the court, given the young age of the new emperor.

Yang Tinghe (1459–1529), style name Jiefu, was a Grand Secretary in the Ming Dynasty under the Zhengde (Wuzong) and Jiajing (Shizong) emperors.

Instead, his own father Zhu Youyuan, the late Prince Xian of Xing, was posthumously elevated to the status of emperor; Yang Tinghe was forced into retirement; and other enemies and dissenters at court were beaten, imprisoned, or banished.
