Qantas Flight 72 (QF72) was a scheduled flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Perth Airport on 7 October 2008 that made an emergency landing at Learmonth airport near the town of Exmouth, Western Australia following an inflight accident featuring a pair of sudden uncommanded pitch-down manoeuvres that resulted in serious injuries to many of the occupants.
At the time, the crash of Flight 410 held the highest death toll of any aviation accident in Colombia until December 20, 1995 when American Airlines Flight 965 crashed in a mountain near Buga, Valle del Cauca, killing 159 people.
However, because many pilots and controllers lack proficiency in English, accidents have continued to result from miscommunication, including the deadliest aviation accident in history: the 1977 Tenerife airport disaster, which claimed 583 lives.
