Conservation easement

As a result of legislation signed by President George W. Bush on August 17, 2006 (H.R. 4 The Pensions Protection Act of 2006), in 2006 and 2007, conservation easement donors were able to deduct the value of their gift at the rate of 50% of their adjusted gross income (AGI) per year.

Spednic Lake

The lake shores are primarily undeveloped, and held in conservation or protected status, either through land ownership or easement, by the state of Maine and the province of New Brunswick.


Carter's Grove

A conservation easement on the mansion and 400 of the 476 acres is co-held by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

Owens Valley

In July 2004, Los Angeles mayor James Hahn proposed barring all future development on its Owens Valley holdings, by proposing a conservation easement for all LADWP land.
