2006 Kodori crisis

It has remained under precarious control of the central Georgian government, but the government of the area has effectively been run, until the recent crisis, by a local authority and warlord Emzar Kvitsiani, who previously led the defense of the gorge against the Abkhaz separatist forces in the capacity of the commander of the local Monadire (literally: "Hunter") militia force and an envoy of the former President of Georgia named Eduard Shevardnadze.

Agia Eirini, Chania

The gorge is popular with trekkers, bringing tourists north from the beach resort of Sougia where it ends.

Argen

The Upper Argen originates in a marshy area north-west of Oberstaufen in the Allgäu and initially flows through a gorge named Eistobel, then underneath the Argentobelbrücke, then past Grünenbach towards Wangen im Allgäu.

Castle in Hagley Park

It lies to the east of the Lammermuir Hills on the North Sea coast at the point where the old Great North Road and modern A1 as well as the London-Edinburgh railway cross the gorge of the Dunglass Burn.

Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, Pennsylvania

Its villages include Aquashicola (locally pronounced "ack-wa-SHIK-la,") Christian Corner, Hazard, and Little Gap (which hosts the Blue Mountain Ski Area.) Its highway access is via Route 248, which extends through the southern gorge of the river to connect Lehighton with the Lehigh Valley and has nearby interchanges in Palmerton and Bowmanstown.
