Herbert Poore

During the Interdict of King John of England's reign, Poore took refuge in Scotland in 1209, and had returned to England by 18 July 1213 when the temporalities of the see were returned to him.

Interdict

Exceptions were made for the dying, and local interdicts were almost entirely suspended on five feasts of the year: Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Pentecost, Corpus Christi and the feast of the Assumption of Mary.

Pope Paul V placed the Republic of Venice under interdict in 1606 after the civil authorities jailed two priests.

On 23 June 1482, Pope Sixtus IV decreed an interdict against the Republic of Venice, unless it abandoned within 15 days its siege of Ferrara.

In 1909, the town of Adria in Italy was placed under interdict for 15 days after a local campaign against the move of a bishop.

Adam of Eynsham

Adam went to France while England was under an interdict during the later part of King John's reign, but when the interdict was lifted, Hugh's successor at Lincoln, Hugh of Wells, named Adam the Abbot of Eynsham in 1213.

Bishopric of Brixen
