Despite of being disqualified, Franco Columbu and Sergio Oliva were permitted to pose for the crowd for exhibition

Sergio Oliva and Roy Callender were disqualified for entering unsanctioned meets, and
•
Franco Columbu was disqualified for entering the AAU Mr. World contest the previous year.
Other favorites at the competition, including Mike Mentzer, Chris Dickerson, and Boyer Coe, were in excellent condition making the 1980 event one of the most competitive Mr. Olympia contests.

The loss and resulting controversy had a major impact on Mike Mentzer personally and professionally, it would be the last time he competed in professional bodybuilding

In the aftermath of the competition, many of the competitors, including Frank Zane, Coe, Mentzer, and Walker, vowed to boycott the 1981 contest.

Although Coe and Mentzer were tied for fourth in scoring, Mentzer was given the fifth place award.

Chinmoy’s training culminated when he held a public demonstration of his feats of strength at age 73 in the presence of strength experts such as 5-time Mr. Universe Bill Pearl, 3-time Mr. Olympia Frank Zane, 2002 World’s Strongest Man Hugo Girard and 9-time Olympic Gold-Medalist Carl Lewis.
In 1980, Joe Weider created the Mr. Olympia and the Grand Prix series of competitions were organized throughout the USA and eventually, Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

With its background in Mr. Olympia introduced in 1965 as the first IFBB professional competition, the series took its current name in 2005 when the IFBB Professional Division officially changed its name.
It began in 1990 and is considered one of the top professional bodybuilding events, with the top five finalists qualifying for the Mr. Olympia contest.
The Kavasila – Vartholomio – Kyllini railway branched off the Patras – Pyrgos railway at Kavasila, and ran to Kyllini via Vartholomio.
The competition was created by Joe Weider in 1994 as a venue for former champions (some of whom had already won the IFBB Mr. Olympia) to continue to compete at the highest professional level past the age of 40.

The contest was won by 2008 Mr. Olympia Dexter Jackson, making him only the second bodybuilder (along with Chris Dickerson) to win titles in both the Mr. Olympia and Masters Olympia competitions.
