Aulic Council

Originating during the later Middle Ages as a paid Council of the Emperor, it was organized in its later form by Maximilian I in 1497, as a rival to the Imperial Chamber Court, which the Imperial Diet had forced upon him.

Napoleon I's gains after the Battle of Austerlitz and the Peace of Pressburg culminated in the end of the Holy Roman Empire, and the Aulic Council ceased to exist in 1806 as an imperial institution.

Wacker von Wackenfels

In 1597 was appointed to the Aulic Council, where he served until 1612, from 1608 as a trainee.


Debit commission

The Reichskammergericht had competencies overlapping those of the Aulic Council and also had the ability to set up commissions.

Franz, Count of Meran

He served the Habsburg emperors as Imperial and Royal Chamberlain, member of the Aulic Council and as a general in the Imperial army, becoming in 1868 a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
