The Carrara Entertainment Precinct is expected to be built opposite the Sports Precinct and will include a showgrounds area that will see the area host the Gold Coast Show as well as musical festivals such as Big Day Out.
The Showgrounds also hosts a number large music events and festivals, including The Big Day Out.
In November 2008, she and her backing band were announced as Triple J's Unearthed winners and performed at the Melbourne Big Day Out.
According to Jed Kurzel (vocalist/guitarist), the only recollection he has of recording the album is that Cec Condon (drummer/vocals) nearly set fire to the studio whilst barbecuing, and that while suffering vertigo, the attending doctor was more interested in whether the band were touring on the next Big Day Out than attending to his illness.
Within this time, the band received a "Kiss My WAMi" award for "Most Promising Band" in 1998, completed two national tours (with Jebediah and Bodyjar), made live appearances on Triple J and ABC's Recovery TV program, and performed at The Big Day Out.
The band then started playing at several high-profile music festivals in 2005, such as the St Kilda Festival, the Come Together Music Festival, the Big Day Out and Rock-It.
A limited edition copy came out in Australia during the Big Day Out 2002.
Some bands featured on the show, such as False Start have since gone on to release albums, and several bands have played at Auckland's Big Day Out festival.
They toured extensively in both Europe and Australia, including a spot on the 1996 Big Day Out and released nine albums under various labels before disbanding in 1998.

The group has opened for High on Fire, Fu Manchu and Kyuss and in 2012 performed at the Auckland Big Day Out music festival alongside notable international acts such as Soundgarden, Röyksopp, and Kasabian.
The band continued to tour Australia, including the Big Day Out tour, Pyramid Rock Festival, Southbound and Homebake.
Throughout January they also performed at the 2011 Sydney Big Day Out, as well as opening for a string of Hot Hot Heat and Birds of Tokyo shows.
It is commonly used for large music festivals – as of 2010, it plays host to Soundwave, Creamfields, Stereosonic, Raggamuffin Music Festival and was the former home of the Big Day Out (which is now held at the adjacent Flemington Racecourse).
Ska Cubano have performed at major festivals worldwide including Glastonbury, Big Day Out, and WOMAD, and toured to date, in 30 countries.

In 1992, while outside the Hordern Pavilion where Nirvana were playing the first Big Day Out, Stevie and Tim Freedman decided to form a band to go against the current local music scene, which neither were happy with.
